The Kernel agricultural holding company plans to build a new transshipment terminal called Development Reni Terminal in the Reni seaport by the end of 2023, thereby increasing the volume of cargo exports to 600,000 tons per year.

The CFTS portal reported this, citing the Interfax Ukraine news agency.

The holding company will build the terminal on a plot of land it leased for 49 years.

"We plan to spend about USD 10 million of our own funds on the implementation of the project from scratch. Options for cooperation are also being considered," said Kateryna Spivakova, head of Kernel’s department of communication, PR, and GR.

After its completion, the new terminal is expected to have 9,600 square meters of storage space for grain and granulated meal and tanks for storage of up to 6,000 tons of sunflower oil. It will also be capable of receiving up to 2,000 tons of grain and meal and up to 1,500 tons of oil per day.

This is equivalent to unloading about 100 trucks and 50 tankers per day. The daily capacity for shipment of goods by river will be up to 8,000 tons for grain or meal and up to 4,000 tons for sunflower oil. The simultaneous loading facility will be designed to accommodate river vessels.

The assets on the River Danube will help Kernel to increase exports to 600,000 tons per year if the “grain corridor” (the humanitarian maritime corridor that was established under the Black Sea Grain Initiative to allow ships to export grain and other foodstuffs from Ukraine) continues operating steadily.
