The Kherson region’s Governor Yurii Husev expects the volume of passenger traffic through the Kherson international airport to increase in 2019. In addition, according to him, work on modernization of the airport’s terminal is underway.

"The Kherson international airport handled 150,000 passengers last year. We plan to increase the passenger flow this year. I resumed negotiations with Ryanair, which has confirmed its willingness to fly from the Kherson airport, on July 30. The airport currently handles scheduled flights to Istanbul and Kyiv. Regular flights to Egypt will be launched soon," Husev said.

According to him, consultations are currently being held with the EBRD and the IFS enterprise management software development company on assistance in drafting a concept for development of the airport.

The governor of the Kherson region also said that work on modernization of the airport’s terminal is underway. “There are certain ideas. We are working with regional councilors to ensure that the necessary funds are allocated in the budget. We are also discussing the idea of ​​a possible concession with the EBRD,” he said.

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, navigation equipment worth UAH 28 million is being purchased for the Kherson airport.
