Knorr-Bremse AG (Germany), the world's leading manufacturer of braking systems for rail and commercial vehicles, this week opened a production and service center in the Rzeszów-Dworzysko Economic Activity Zone and Technology Park in Rzeszów (Poland), 80 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. 

The Rzeszów facility is expected to become the leading service center for the manufacturer's hydraulic braking systems for rail vehicles in Europe, the CFTS portal reports, citing a company statement. According to the statement, it will also start production of air conditioning systems and Power Electric electrical components for rail vehicles.

"Three business units of our railway portfolio currently operate in Rzeszów: heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; power electrics components for rail vehicles; braking systems, which produce and service equipment for the Polish market, as well as for Western, Central and Eastern Europe. In the future, we plan to expand the plant's operations to include other areas of specialization," said Jacek Bilas, managing director of Knorr-Bremse Poland.

The production facility currently employs over 140 people. This number is expected to increase to 400 over the next few years. The company also plans to expand its production area in the coming years.

Knorr-Bremse has been in operation for over 115 years and currently has around 100 companies in 30 countries.
