Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has already added the new direct train that will operate between Kyiv and Vienna via Lviv to the reservation system on its website.
According to information on the website of the Austrian railway company, the train should be launched on this route on December 10 this year. The train will depart from Kyiv at 14:07, arrive in Lviv at 19:50, depart from Lviv at 21:00, and arrive in Vienna at 11:21 the next day. On this route, the train will also make a 20-minute stop in Budapest.
In the opposite direction, the train will depart from Vienna at 16:42, arrive in Lviv at 10:10, depart from Lviv at 11:27, and arrive at the Kyiv Passenger station at 17:11.
As reported earlier, former head of the Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia), Wojciech Balczun, announced in June this year that a Kyiv-Vienna train would be launched in December.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s acting board chairman Yevhen Kravtsov confirmed this plan in September.
As the CFTS portal reported earlier, the Polish passenger railway company PKP Intercity has announced that the number of passengers using the Kyiv-Warsaw train (which consists of three railcars) has increased. The company associated the increase to a significant reduction of the ticket prices on this route.a
