The Luganskteplovoz holding company, which is owned by the Transmashholding corporation (Russia), increased production by 37% in January-February 2014 compared with the same period in 2013, including an increase of 15.5% in February compared with February 2013. This was reported by the Interfax Ukraine news agency.

Citing the Luganskteplovoz’s General Director Pavlo Tsesnek, the press service of the company said that the company delivered 12 2TE116U diesel locomotives, six 2TE116UD diesel locomotives with engines manufactured by the General Electric company (instead of the planned two), and six 3TE116U diesel locomotives to the Russian Railways in February.

"We plan to send 14 2TE116U diesel locomotives, six 3TE116U diesel locomotives, and two 2TE116UD diesel locomotives to the Russian Railways in March. Designers and engineers are continuing to design the layout for installation of equipment manufactured by Ukrainian plants on 2EL4 and 2EL5 locomotives,” the press service quoted Tsesnek as saying.

Luganskteplovoz produces mainline and shunting diesel locomotives, electric locomotives, direct- and alternating-current electric trains, and diesel trains. The company increased production in monetary terms by 75% to more than UAH 3 billion in 2013, compared with 2012.

According to preliminary data, the company’s net profit increased 4.1 times to UAH 158.28 million in 2013, compared with 2012. It delivered 184 2TE116U diesel locomotives, 66 2TE116UD diesel locomotives, nine 3TE116U diesel locomotives, and four 2EL4 mainline electric locomotives to customers.

Luganskteplovoz plans to deliver 332 diesel locomotives to the Russian Railways in 2014.
