The Meotida trailing suction hopper dredger arrived at the Berdiansk seaport on June 15 to perform maintenance dredging. This was announced by the Ukrainian Seaports Authority. The vessel relocated from the port of Mariupol.
The Meotida dredger will perform dredging works on the approach channel to the Berdiansk seaport during the period of June-July, after which it will return to Mariupol to continue working on the approach channel of the Coal Harbor.
The Meotida dredger began performing dredging operations in the port of Mariupol at the end of December 2017. It has removed about 145,000 cubic meters of soil, thus increasing the port’s draught from 7.5 to 7.7 meters.
The Ukrainian Seaports Authority owns the Meotida trailing suction hopper dredger, but it is on the books of the Delta Pilot company. The dredger is designed for performance of operational and construction dredging works.
The vessel was built in the period of 2010-2012 by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem (Netherlands).
