The State Automobile Road Service (Ukravtodor) intends to turn the M05 Kyiv-Odesa highway into a full-fledged autobahn. The highway’s sections within the boundaries of the Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions will have concrete surfaces.

Ukravtodor’s head Slawomir Nowak announced this on May 17, the CFTS portal reports.

"A few days ago I managed to convince our colleagues from the European Investment Bank that all loans provided to us from now should be specifically intended for the M05 Kyiv-Odesa highway to enable us to have a full-fledged autobahn in a few years. Our plan is that this highway will have an asphalt concrete surface within the Cherkasy region and a cement concrete surface within the Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions," Nowak said.

According to him, Ukravtodor will prepare the design documentation for overhaul of the highway’s section inside the boundaries of the Cherkasy region in 2019. Also in 2019, Ukravtodor hopes to begin designing the overhaul of the highway’s sections in the three regions in which it will have a cement concrete surface.

"We will repair the Kyiv-Odesa highway with state budget funds this year. We also plan to overhaul the highway’s sections in the Kyiv region with funds from international financial institutions. In particular, we plan to repair a 15-kilometer section in the Cherkasy region with money from the Road Fund. This is half of the length of the most problematic section, which runs between Zhashkov and Uman," he said.

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, Construction and Installation Trust No. 8 LLC, which is part of the Belavtodor holding company, has won the tender for maintenance of the M05 Kyiv-Odesa highway at the cost of UAH 371 million.

Major repair work is also being performed on the H31 Dnipro-Reshetilivka highway, one of the sections of which is being surfaced with concrete. Almost 80 kilometers of concrete road is expected to appear here in three years. About 15 kilometers of concrete road has already been built.
