This has allowed the full restoration of traffic on Highway M-21 (Vystupovychi - Zhytomyr - Mohyliv-Podilskyi), which is one of the key highways in the region.
A bridge over the Trostianytsia River has been opened to traffic in the Zhytomyr region following its reconstruction.
The State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
The reopening of the bridge has facilitated the full restoration of traffic on Highway M-21 (Vystupovychi - Zhytomyr - Mohyliv-Podilskyi), which is one of the key highways in the region.
"From now on, all types of vehicles can travel on the bridge. This will significantly improve Ukraine’s logistics and the humanitarian situation in the north of the Zhytomyr region. Highway M-21 connects dozens of urban and rural communities with Zhytomyr, including Ovruch and Korosten," the statement said.
The bridge over the Trostianytsia River was blown up in the spring of 2022 during battles for the Zhytomyr region. A temporary crossing was created near the bridge after the liberation of the territories from the Russian occupiers.
In view of the strategic importance of Highway M-21 and the low throughput capacity of the temporary crossing, road workers began full reconstruction of the bridge near the village of Toporische last year.
"This is the second facility that the agency has restored in the Zhytomyr region. A bridge on Highway M-07 (Kyiv - Kovel - Yahodyn) was opened at the end of 2022. In addition, we are overhauling a bridge over the Dubovets River on Highway M-06 (Kyiv - Chop), which was damaged by explosions," the statement said.
