The main goal of Russia’s air attacks on the port infrastructure in Odesa and the Odesa region is to cut Ukraine's access to the Black Sea completely and - through an act of intimidation - prevent and neutralize international efforts to resume the operation of the Black Sea grain corridor.
The secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Oleksii Danylov, said this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
“According to the Kremlin's plan, artificial conditions should be created to threaten famine primarily in African countries and increase the level of migration threats to Europe. The Russians expect to use blackmail to force the West to negotiate and accept Putin's ‘grain ultimatum’ - the resumption of Russian ammonia exports and the lifting of some sanctions and other restrictions,” Danylov wrote on Facebook.
According to him, the destruction of the Ukrainian port infrastructure that ensures the functioning of the grain corridor should make the world dependent on Russian grain under the Russian plan. "The plan is to bring the world to its knees and make Russia a unique grain supplier. After the failure of the idea of an ‘energy superpower,’ Putin wants to become a ‘grain super-empire,’" Danylov wrote.
"The world and the West must show firmness and steadfastness and give a worthy response to the Kremlin rat, which should be in the form of complete restoration of the Ukrainian grain corridor under international security guarantees," he added.
As the CFTS portal reported, Russian troops attacked the infrastructure of the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk last week.
The Russians destroyed port infrastructure on the River Danube with kamikaze drones in the early hours of 24 July.
