Seaports in continental Ukraine (excluding Crimean ports) increased cargo transshipment by 8% to 67.702 million tons in January-June 2014, compared with the same period of 2013, according to statistical data from the Administration Seaports of Ukraine (ASU).
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargoes increased by 14.1% to 8.034 million tons, dry cargoes by 6.8% to 42.871 million tons, and unitized cargoes by 8.1% to 16.797 million tons.
Container transshipment reduced by 6.4% to 347,573 TEU in the first half of 2014. The number of individual containers was 214,228 (down 5.6%) and they weighed a total of 4.607 million tons (+3.6%).
Transshipment of export cargo increased by 17.3% to 49.160 million tons, transshipment of import cargo reduced by 15.7% to 6.869 million tons, transshipment of transit cargo reduced by 2.8% to 11.416 million tons, and transshipment of coastal cargo (cabotage) reduced by 71.9% to 256,000 tons in the first half of 2014.
