The Polish Office of Rail Transport has granted Stowarzyszenie Kolejowych Przewozów Lokalnych (SKPL), a Polish private railway carrier, a permit to provide passenger rail services on the Warszawa Wschodnia - Hrebenne (Polish-Ukrainian border) - Rava-Ruska railway route.
The decision to grant the permit was made in record time, the CFTS partial reports, citing the Rynek kolejowy publication.
"We have received an official decision to grant open access to passenger transport services on the Warszawa Wschodnia - Hrebenne - Rava-Ruska railway route," SKPL said in a statement. It emphasized that the official decision by the head of the Polish Office of Rail Transport only allows the company to apply for the allocation of train routes within the scope of the available capacity and that the applications must be sent 40 days before the scheduled launch of the new service.
"However, it should be remembered that organizational and legal measures are still ongoing. In practice, this means that the new service cannot be launched before the timetable is adjusted in September. We will announce the exact date of the launch of the transport service later," SKPL said.
As the CFTS portal reported previously, the abovementioned route is expected to become part of the Warsaw - Hrebenne - Rava-Ruska - Lviv international route.
According to its application, SKPL plans to operate trains on this route from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2028. The company plans to operate a pair of trains with a minimum capacity of 240 passengers daily.
