The Ternopil airport may resume receiving airplanes after obtaining a license from the State Aviation Service of Ukraine. The Ternopil regional council’s First Deputy Chairman Vasyl Derevlianyi announced this on 2 December.
"A commission of the State Aviation Service issued the Ternopil airport a license for the first year of operation today. This is our first big victory on the road to restoration of this municipal company," Derevlianyi said.
"In spite of the deplorable state of the airport, dozens of comments by the commission, and ‘a spoke in the wheel’ by certain politicians, we have managed to restore the airport. There are land deeds and an operating license, and that is the most important. Now, we have the opportunity to launch flights," he said.
As reported, the Rivne airport launched international flights for the first time in a decade in summer this year. Flights from the Kryvyi Rih airport to Antalya (Turkey) also began on 9 July 2016.
