Today, there is clear and confirmed interest from international investors in the concession projects that they intend to implement in the Chornomorsk seaport.

This is stated in the CFTS material Investments in ports 2024: The format determines the content.

In particular, A.P. shows interest in Moeller-Maersk. And Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov stated that at least 5 large companies have shown interest in PPP projects in Chornomorsk.

It is expected that tenders will be announced this year. As Taras Boychuk, head of the Project Office for the Development of Public-Private Partnership, said, the preparation of the technical and economic feasibility study will end in early 2024, after which the Ministry of Reconstruction will coordinate it with the Ministry of Economy.

International organizations - the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which accompany the preparation of projects, contact potential investors and provide political support from the authorities - should contribute to the successful conduct of concession tenders, in particular regarding the terminals of the Black Sea port.

As noted in the publication, any concession is aimed at sustainable and long-term development of terminals. And for international big players, it is important to enter a promising market for them in time, before someone else does. This is especially relevant for the container business. International lines determine logistics and the main directions of cargo flows, the choice of a port (terminal) as a base for transshipment and "entry point" to the country and region. The involvement of such companies in the concession project of the container terminal in Chornomorsk gives a clear and strong competitive advantage compared to terminals in other countries of the region.
