Ukraine has reached a preliminary agreement with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Air Transport Association (ІATA), the Federal Aviation Administration United States (FAA), and the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) on resumption of civil aviation flights on international routes over the Black Sea, the press service of the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (UkSATSE) announced.

According to the press service, UkSATSE suggested several options for resumption of air traffic flows in Ukraine’s area of responsibility, thus allowing airlines to cut their cost and ease congestion on crowded air routes in flight information regions of neighbouring countries.

Representatives of ICAO, IATA, FAA, and EUROCONTROL made a number of comments and suggestions during meetings, as a result of which four routes were chosen for further possible planning and performance of flights by airspace users.

“We made clear proposals and proved the readiness of the Ukrainian Air Navigation Service Provider, including the availability of technical facilities, to provide air traffic services in the international airspace over the Black Sea. Our reasons were heard. At the moment, UkSATSE is amending and finalizing the safety case, taking into account propositions of the international experts,” UkSATSE’s acting deputy director for air navigation Ruslan Hutsan is quoted as saying

He added that a working meeting on resumption of air traffic flows over the Black Sea should be held with representatives of IATA and EUROCONTROL in the near future.
