Ukraine’s airports handled 5.340 million passengers in the period of January-June this year or 15.3% fewer than the number of passengers they handled in the corresponding period of last year, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure announced.
One of the reasons for the reduction of air passenger traffic is the situation in the country, in connection with which airports in the Crimea and eastern regions of the country have been closed.
As usual, the Boryspil international airport (Kiev region) handled most passengers in the first half of the year (more than 3.1 million).
The volume of cargo and mail handled by Ukrainian airports reduced by 8.2% to 16,800 tons in January-June 2014, compared with January-June 2013.
