Ukraine may sign an agreement on a Common Aviation Area with the European Union before 5 June 2014, Svitlana Didkivska, the transport sector manager at the European Union’s Delegation to Ukraine, has said, the CFTS correspondent reports.

"At the moment, the agreement is on the European side. The latest date for signing the agreement that was announced at the transport committee of the European Union is June 5," Didkivska said during a roundtable on the theme "The Agreement on a Common Aviation Area between Ukraine and the European Union: New Opportunities for Air Carriers and Changes on the Aviation Market of Ukraine" in Kiev on Monday.

The State Aviation Service of Ukraine’s head Denys Antoniuk said at the roundtable that the text of the agreement has been approved in full by the Ukrainian side while the European side has not yet resolved the issue of definition of "territory" in the context of Gibraltar.

At the same time, an informed source in the industry told the Center for Transport Strategies that the EU leadership has specially taken a break in order to conclude an agreement of such significance after presidential elections and formation of a new government in Ukraine.
