The Ukrainian military has received a SHERP the Shuttle amphibious assault boat for performing tasks in the northern operational zone. The vessel appeared in a river boat division’s training video published by the commander of the joint forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev.
The CFTS portal reported this, citing the Maritime Telegraph publication.
In particular, the video shows amphibious landing exercises simulating the capture of important coastal areas to help troops advancing from another direction to destroy enemy units.
The military used the SHERP the Shuttle landing craft to land on shore.
As reported previously, the commander of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, Vice-Admiral Oleksii Neizhpapa, recently announced plans to create a river flotilla on River Dnipro. The creation of the first river division of the river flotilla began in March. Part of the river fleet was transferred to the military to create a combat unit. Weapons were installed on ordinary river boats, which now belong to the Ukrainian Navy. According to the Ukrainian Navy, these vessels are performing well on rivers even though they are not new.
The division that has already been created is subordinated to the Kyiv Defense Force to ensure support for the forces operating in the riverine operational areas near River Dnipro. The navy plans to fill the flotilla with combat units, including units equipped with boats provided by allies.
