The first “Major Construction” projects that will be technical supervised by international engineering companies have been identified.
The Ukrainian Road Agency (Ukravtodor) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
The companies will be responsible for monitoring compliance with design decisions and requirements of road standards, as well as for monitoring the quality of construction, reconstruction, or repair work on public roads.
“Involvement of international experts guarantees independent and high-quality assessment of road works. we are already working with companies from Austria and France, but there will be more of them every day. In this way, we are reducing the effect of the corruption factor and diversifying risks. I hope that Ukrainian companies will compete, thus enabling us to develop the market of road consulting services in our country," Ukravtodor’s head Oleksandr Kubrakov said.
According to the statement, the first such projects include overhaul of the bridge across the River Aidar on the Severodonetsk-Novoaidar T-13-06 Highway in the Lugansk region (LLC Egis Ukraine, France); overhaul of the overpass over the Starobelsk-Luhansk-Khrustalnyi-Makiivka-Donetsk H-21 Highway in the Luhansk region (LLC Egis Ukraine, France); overhaul of the Stryi-Ternopil-Kropyvnytskyi-Znamianka M-12 Highway in the Khmelnytskyi region (LLC iC Consulenten, Austria).
"Independent construction supervision performed by an engineering company is a common and mandatory practice at facilities financed by international financial institutions (in Ukraine, these are projects financed by the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development)," the statement said.
According to the statement, this experience will be applied at all key Major Construction facilities.
In addition, active preparation for tenders for technical supervision of key construction projects this year is currently underway. In particular, these include the projects for construction of the H-31 Highway (Dnipro-Reshetylivka), a highway across River Dnipro in the city of Zaporizhia, and other objects.
As the CFTS portal reported earlier, Ukravtodor has received permission to build a bridge in Zaporizhia.
