The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) transported almost 80 million tons of cargo in the period of July-September this year, an increase of 2.7 million tons compared with the corresponding period of last year. In particular, it increased domestic freight transportation by 11.3% and export freight transportation by 1.8%.
Ukrzaliznytsia announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
“The new tariff policy that is currently being implemented will make freight transportation by rail even more attractive to a wide range of customers. In particular, the company has already developed a new technology for transportation of freight on block trains. The three methods for calculating tariffs and the final cost depend on the volume of freight and the distance. As a result, clients will be able to plan the turnover and speed of transportation," the statement said.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, transportation of the construction materials, scrap ferrous metals, cement, iron, and manganese ores increased.
As the CFTS portal reported, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 28.32 million tons of freight in August 2020, which is 10.3% more than the 25.7 million tons it transported in August 2019. Ukrzaliznytsia transported 25.182 million tons of freight in July 2020, which is 1.77 million tons more than it transported in June and 2.178 million tons more than it transported in May.
