More than 544,000 grain cars were loaded in Ukraine in 2016 and these grain cars transported 35 million tons of grain and grain cargoes. This is 4.1 million tons or 13% more than the figure in 2015, the Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) announced.
On average, 1,486 grain cars were loaded per day in 2016, which are 157 cars more than the number that was loaded in 2015. In total, 424,600 grain cars transported 28 million ton of export goods to ports in 2016, which is 2.2 million tons more than the volume in 2015.
According to information from Ukrzaliznytsia, the average time that grain cars spent at regional train stations was 18.67 hours in 2016, which is 2.57 hours less than the average time in 2015.
The average time that grain cars spent at loading/unloading stations and sidings port stations was 16.11 hours in 2016, which is 0.99 hours less than the average time in 2015.
Ukrzaliznytsia also said that it launched a website where exporters can find information about availability of empty grain cars on railways, directorates, and stations in 2016.
