According to CFTS Consulting, the volume of export and transit freight transported by the State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) that leaves Ukraine through the country’s western border increased by 1.9 million tons or 13 percent to 16.9 million tons in the first half of 2014, compared with the same period of last year.
At the same time, the volume of freight (import and transit) that entered the country reduced by 25 percent to 1.2 million tons.
The volume of transit goods that left the country by rail through the western border of Ukraine increased by 622,100 tons or 17 percent to 4.2 million tons in the first half of 2014.
At the same time, the volume of transit goods that entered the country through the western border reduced by 142,300 or 25 percent.
Transportation of goods abroad without transit increased by 11 percent and transportation of goods into the country without transit reduced by 26 percent.
As reported, the Lvov Railways increased its net profit by 60 percent to UAH 54.045 million in January-June 2014, compared with the same period of 2013.
