The convention of the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) on the transportation of freight through the Mohyliv-Podilskyi border crossing came into effect on 12 July.
The CFTS portal reported this, citing the Rail Insider publication.
The ban applies to the transportation of goods to Moldova and Romania, as well as to the stations Reni, Reni (exp.), Reni (exp. CFR), Reni-Nalyvna, and Reni-Port-Export through the Mohyliv-Podilskyi border crossing.
Ukrzaliznytsia recently announced that it had test-operated a freight train from Mohyliv-Podilskyi to Reni on transit through the territory of Moldova, using a Ukrainian locomotive. This approach was supposed to speed up the delivery of goods by rail to Reni, and the number of freight trains from Ukraine passing through Moldova on transit was planned to be increased to eight pairs per day.
