The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia) will complete the design of the construction of 1,435-mm-gauge railway tracks from the Ukrainian-Polish border to Lviv (the Mostyska - Sknyliv railway section) by the end of this year to establish a European railway link.

The CFTS portal reported this, citing the Business Censor publication.

"We plan to complete the preparation of the design documentation for the construction of a railway track with a width of 1,435 mm from the state border with Poland to Lviv. We are talking about the construction of the Mostyska - Sknyliv railway section. We already have a feasibility study. We plan to complete the design of the construction in 2023," Ukrzaliznytsia’s Board Chairman Yevhen Liaschenko said.

According to him, the implementation of this project will make it possible to establish a European-gauge railway link from Lviv to Kraków, Prague, and Vienna.

As reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia announced plans to build a European-gauge railway with a track width of 1,435 mm from Sknyliv to Mostyska, near the Ukrainian-Polish border, in November 2019.
