The fifth vessel chartered by the UN World Food Program entered the port of Chornomorsk for loading on 2 October under the Black Sea Grain Initiative to establish a humanitarian maritime corridor to allow ships to export grain and other foodstuffs from Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

The New Island ship entered the port to load wheat.

It is the fifth ship chartered by the UN World Food Program. The ship will depart for Somalia after loading wheat.

In addition, five ships left the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi on 2 October under the under the Black Sea Grain Initiative. They were carrying 114,700 tons of agricultural products intended for countries in Africa and Europe.

They include the Argo 1 bulk carrier, which is transporting 31,000 tons of corn to Egypt, and the Doga K bulk carrier, which is transporting 10,000 tons of wheat to Tunisia.

In total, 5.8 million tons of agricultural products have been exported since the first ship carrying Ukrainian agricultural products passed through the "grain corridor."

So far, 257 ships carrying agricultural products to countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa have departed from Ukrainian seaports.
