Vilnius Airport has become the object of street art. Lithuanian artist Antanas Dubra painted a 26 meter tower situated in the area of Vilnius Airport, the press service of the state-owned company Lietuvos oro uostai ("Lithuanian airports") reported.
The work of Antanas Dubra is called "The grumpy side of the moon". There is a plane flying next to the moon. In his painting the artist tries to image the idea that the sky is not a limit to contemporary aviation. The Dubra's work has been performed during the Vilnius street art festival held in Lithuania in late September.
"We wish to create as good impression about the capital as possible even before disembarking the plane – therefore, we have selected the place for the painting celebrating the aviation dream which is seen from a landed aircraft taxiing to the airport", said Indrė Baltrušaitienė, Head of Communications and Marketing Department at Lietuvos oro uostai.
Vilnius airport belongs to the network of Lithuanian airports. It is the busiest airport in Lithuania. In 2014 it handled more than 2,9 m passengers.
