The largest transport aircraft in the world, the An-225 Mriya, has delivered a cargo of medical supplies from China to Ukraine.

The aircraft landed at the Gostomel airport at about 10:15, Kyiv time, on April 22, the CFTS portal reports.

The aircraft delivered a consignment of medical supplies (protective masks, gloves, and protective suits) from Tianjin (China) to Ukraine. On the way, the aircraft made a stop in Almaty.

The Antonov aircraft manufacturing company broadcast the welcoming of the aircraft by officials, including President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

The giant Ukrainian aircraft performed its first commercial flight in mid-April after a half-year hiatus, delivering 100 tons of medicines from China to Poland on April 14.

The An-225 Mriya aircraft landed at the Paris-Vatry Airport (France) with 150 tons of medical supplies (also from China) on April 19.

After that, the Antonov Airlines announced that the aircraft would be involved in the transportation of such cargoes to the United States in the future. It was announced on April 22 that the An-124 Ruslan aircraft was already involved in delivery of anti-COVID-19 equipment to the United States.

“An An-124-100 Ruslan aircraft belonging to the Antonov Airlines, the transport unit of the Antonov state aircraft manufacturing enterprise, began a series of flights to deliver medical supplies for combating the coronavirus pandemic from China to various cities in the United States, including Orlando, Houston, Washington, and Los Angeles, on April 22, 2020," the Antonov Airlines said in a statement.

According to the statement, the An-225 Mriya aircraft will begin participating in the delivery of these supplies to the United States in May.
