The Antonov state aircraft manufacturing company will build an An-148 aircraft for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s spokesperson Viktoria Kushnir announced this this at a press conference in Kyiv, the Ukrinform news agency reports.

"Domestic industries such as construction of unmanned aerial systems (Fury, Spectator, etc.) have already taken off. Construction of aircraft of the series An-148 for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is beginning," she said.

The Defense Ministry spokesperson also said that the Ukrainian Air Force is gradually receiving modernized Su-27, Su-25, MiG-29, and L-39 airplanes, as well as Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters equipped with the latest defense mechanisms.

As reported, the Ministry of Defense guaranteed loans of up to UAH 1.148 billion for the Antonov state aircraft manufacturing company in 2015 at the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers. The loan was to be used to finance production of An-148-EA aircraft – a modification of with VIP cabins (a three-class layout).
