The first phase of the Brooklyn-Kiev company’s grain transshipment complex at the Odessa port will increase its transshipment volume to 1.5 million tons before the end of this year. Brooklyn-Kyiv’s General Director Yurii Hubankov announced this during the signing of a loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Louis Dreyfus Commodities company, the CFTS correspondent reports.

"We have handled 320,000 tons of cargo as of today, and our transshipment volume practically reaches 130,000-150,000 tons every month. That is despite the fact that we have not yet fully launched the terminal. We are hoping to transship 1.5 million tons by the end of the year. This is a very good indicator for the first phase,” he said.

The general director of the company also stated the cost of the grain terminal project at USD 99 million. "We have already invested about USD 62 million. This includes funds from another bank, and there will be refinancing there after reception of the EBRD loan," said Hubankov.

According to him, Louis Dreyfus Commodities is currently a partner and a major client, which will become a fully-fledged shareholder of the company after completion of the terminal.

In addition, Hubankov said that full operation of the terminal would generate UAH 85 million in additional revenue for the port of Odessa, as well as UAH 50 million in state budget revenues.

As reported, Brooklyn-Kiev, the EBRD, and Louis Dreyfus Commodities signed an agreement on provision of a loan of up to USD 60 million for financing the project for construction of the grain terminal on July 29. The first phase of Brooklyn-Kiev’s grain transshipment complex began operation at the Odessa port’s Androsovsky Mole in spring 2013.
