The Ukrzaliznytsia public joint-stock company has placed an order with the Dnipropetrovsk locomotive plant for repair of 85 diesel locomotive sections in 2016, the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia announced in a statement.

The plant overhauled 27 diesel locomotive sections in the period of July-November and plans to repair 16 sections of 2T116 locomotives and three sections of CHME3 locomotives for Ukrzaliznytsia before the end of the year.

According to the statement, the situation at the plant was difficult in the first half of this year, when it repaired only three locomotives, operated only 3-4 days per week, and severely cut costs.

The Dnipropetrovsk locomotive plant performs the full cycle of work involving overhaul and modernization of locomotives and their individual units. The factory has the right to extend the service lives of locomotives by an average of 5-10 years after overhauling them. The main customer of the Dnipropetrovsk locomotive plant is currently Ukrzaliznytsia. The plant reported a net loss of UAH 11.3 million for the period of January-September 2015 (compared with a net profit of UAH 0.7 million in the previous year) and UAH net revenue of UAH 77.5 million (-40%).
