The first batch-produced Il-76MD-90A transport aircraft (IL-476) has rolled off the final assembly line at the Aviastar-SP company (Ulyanovsk, Russia), aex.ru reports.

"Work involving installation of systems and equipment has been performed on the aircraft, and modern avionics has been installed in the cockpit. The testing of the wing torsion box and the center-wing box for leaks has been completed. The aircraft has been transferred from the final assembly shop to Spektr-Avia for painting. After the painting work, the aircraft will be delivered for the planned ground and flight tests,” Aviastar-SP said.

The aircraft is expected to be delivered to the customer - the Russian Defense Ministry - this year. Under the relevant contract, Aviastar-SP should produce 39 aircraft for the Russian military. About 13 aircraft of the IL-76 family in production are currently in various stages of readiness.

The Il-76MD-90A is an extensively modified version of the Il-76MD aircraft, which was produced at the Chkalov Tashkent Aviation Association in Uzbekistan. New flight navigation system, automatic control system, communications system, and "glass" cockpits are being installed on the aircraft. Their D-30KP2 engines are being replaced with the more modern PS-90A-76 engine and a modified wing and reinforced chassis are being used.
