AvtoVAZ, GM-AvtoVAZ, and Volkswagen Group Rus have sent their workers on vacation, tvrain.ru reports.
Production of automobiles and SKD will be suspended at two of AvtoVAZ’s plants from July 28. Return from vacation is planned for August 17.
Kaluga Volkswagen will remain on vacation until August 25. Only the workers engaging in modernization of equipment will remain at the factory.
Earlier, the Ford plant in the Leningrad region and the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg sent their workers on vacation.
Car sales in Russia have been falling for several months, according to the Association of European Businesses. The association said that 17.3% fewer cars were sold in June 2014, compared with the same month in 2013.
