Simplified procedures for customs clearance of ships (free practice) have been introduced at 16 berths in the Yuzhny seaport (Odessa region). The port’s head Maksym Shirokov announced this during a meeting with reporters, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
According to him, the use of "free practice" saves an average of 2 hours and 20 minutes during the processing of a single vessel. However, it has not been possible to process at least 40% of the ships calling at the port via this procedure.
As reported, a ship-processing procedure that provides for sharing information with agents, port operators, regulatory agencies, and other agencies simultaneously in paper and electronic forms has been in use at the Yuzhny seaport since 12 March 2014. This procedure allows the use of "free practice.
