The Lemtrans Group has completed the first construction phase and officially opened the Container Terminal Vinnytsia (CTV).

Lemtrans announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

During this construction phase, new infrastructure was developed: railroad tracks were laid, a container yard with a capacity of up to 2,000 TEUs was equipped, and a covered warehouse with an area of 3,500 square meters was built.

The terminal has a total area of 8 hectares and a throughput capacity of 30,000 TEUs annually. The modern equipment and infrastructure at the terminal are expected to speed up cargo handling significantly.

"We are creating new opportunities, as the emergence of such a terminal in the region gives shippers - both large and small - access to global logistics. This means that exporters and importers are no longer dependent on the size of their shipments or the influence of global trading companies," said CTV’s General Director Dmytro Balaba. "The opening of Container Terminal Vinnytsia is a crucial step toward further economic development of the region."

The investment in the project is approximately USD 15 million.

Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov said that container shipping will expand the community's cooperation with other regions of Ukraine, as well as with other European countries. "In addition, it will create new jobs, increasing the competitiveness and resilience of our community," he added.

The CTV general director also emphasized the importance of the partnership with local and regional authorities, which facilitated the successful completion of the project. "We will continue to strengthen our partnerships, focusing on our shared goal of economic development of the region," Balaba said.

Container Terminal Vinnytsia received its first train in cooperation with UZ Cargo Poland and the Liski Transport Service Center, a division of the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia). The first cargo consignment exceeded 60 TEU. This regular service will connect the Polish port of Gdańsk with CTV.

In addition, shippers will be able to send containers to the terminals in the Greater Odesa area, and, in the future, they will be able to send containers by rail to Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, and the Netherlands.

"Despite the full-scale war, we continue to implement new infrastructure projects. This terminal is part of our strategy to create a network of container terminals across Ukraine," said Lemtrans General Director Volodymyr Mezentsev. "These investments not only expand our group's capabilities but also facilitate the development of Ukraine's foreign trade, opening up new prospects and transport volumes."
