Lithuania to hold a tender to select the future concessionaire of its airports in the middle of 2016, the press service of the state-owned company Lietuvos oro uostai ("Lithuanian airports") reported.

Last week, Lietuvos oro uostai announced an open competition for the provision of advisory services for the preparation of the concession project. Participation in the competition is open to both Lithuanian citizens and foreigners.

The consultant will draw up the required concession tender documentation. He also will advice on all financial, tax, legal and technical issues arising in the drafting of the concession project. It is planned that Lithuanian airports will commence work with the selected consultant starting with January next year.

"Lithuanian airports, in particular Vilnius Airport, will soon reach the limit of the passengers handled; therefore, to exploit and to service even more passengers as well as to attract new airlines, we need a private investor. We are carefully preparing for a concession and looking for competent partners", said Eugenijus Kaziliūnas, Head of Airport Network at Lietuvos oro uostai.

Lietuvos oro uostai ("Lithuanian airports") was created on July of 2014. It consists of three air gateways in Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga. During 2014 they handled 3.8 million passengers.
