The construction of a railway line between Kyiv and the Boryspil airport should be completed by December 1, 2018. Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian announced this at a news briefing at the Ministry of Infrastructure on 20 February, the CFTS correspondent reports.

According to the minister, it is still necessary to go through the "difficult stage of coordinating the documentation" before the beginning of the work, which is scheduled for June.

Regarding completion of the work, Omelian said, "The deadline that was set by the prime minister is December 1 for launch of a test train between Kyiv’s central station and the Boryspil airport."

As reported, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman recently said that construction of the railway line between Kyiv and the airport should begin no later than June 1.

The Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) will spend UAH 800 million of its own funds on implementation of the project. Implementation of the project will involve construction of an overpass to the existing railway infrastructure, construction of 4 kilometers of railway tracks, and construction of a railway platform near a terminal at the airport. The rolling stock to be used consists of 13 Pesa trains. These are all the Pesa trains currently owned by Ukrzaliznytsia. Of these, nine are currently in in operation.
