Repair of roads leading to the terminals of the seaports in Mykolaiv will be financed in conjunction with stevedoring companies. The relevant decision was announced during a working meeting on regulation of the movement of heavy trucks with the participation of the leaderships of the regional administration and the city administration, the press service of the Mykolaiv regional administration announced.
Mykolaiv’s Deputy Mayor Yurii Stepanets said UAH 47 million was necessary for this purpose and that the city budget did not have such funds. At the same time, according to him, the mayor’s office is ready to allocate money for design work, purchase of traffic lights, etc.
The head of the State Transport Safety Service’s division in the Mykolaiv region, Leonid Kostenko, suggested creating a mobile group of police officers, municipal transport management officials, and social activists for documentary monitoring of heavy trucks, which are currently "accumulating randomly on the territory of the city." The deputy mayor promised to consider this proposal and prepare the relevant order.
As reported, Mykolaiv has announced that it may introduce a state of emergency because of the state of the roads in the city. In addition, the mayor’s office has announced its intention to deploy cargo transport dispatchers.
