Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian has announced some details of the plan for construction of a new airport between Dnipro and Zaporizhia the CFTS correspondent reports. It will be the first airport to be built from scratch at a new site since Ukraine gained independence.

"The distance to the airport from downtown Dnipro and Zaporizhia will be 30-40 kilometers… It will be the first new airport to be built in Ukraine. Its construction will begin next year. I am confident that we will complete this facility in two years, maximum three years," the minister said.

According to Omelian, the cost of construction of the new airport will be comparable to the cost of building a new terminal and a runway at the Odesa airport. "The state will finance construction of the runway and everything else will be financed by a private investor. I would like the regional administration to be involved. The cost of the new airport is comparable to the cost of construction of the Odesa airport or an airport in Dnipro, which was considered previously," he said.

As reported earlier, the plan to build an airport in the village of Solone was announced on Monday, November 19. The working name of the new airport is Prydniprovie.
