Passenger traffic through the Boryspil airport increased by 17% to 1.457 million in the period of January-March, compared with the same period of last year, the press service of the airport reports.
The number of flights handled by the airport increased by 21% to 17,800, including 15,500 international and 2,300 domestic flights.
Passenger transportation on Ukrainian routes increased by 42% to 153,000 people in the first quarter. The number of people using international flights during this period increased by 14.3% to 1.304 million, compared with one year earlier.
The airport handled 5,875 tons of cargo and 1,337 tons of mail in the first quarter.
The airport notes that airline companies have begun adjusting their flight programs because of the political instability in Ukraine. "The tendency toward reduction of airline companies’ flight plans and reduction of the load factor of flights became evident in the second half of February and continues today," the airport said.
Airline companies reduced the volume of passenger transportation through the Boryspil airport by 4% to 420,300 in March, compared with March last year. Meanwhile, the number of flights from/to the airport increased by 9% to 5,600 in March this year. The volumes of cargo and mail processed last month were 2,100 tons and 403 tons, respectively.
