Poland has demanded that the European Commission ban imports of agricultural products from Russia into Europe.

Poland’s Permanent Representative to the European Union Andrzej Sados announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Latifundist publication.

"We believe sanctions should be imposed on Russian agricultural products immediately, if only because of the problems involving the importation of Ukrainian products into the European Union. Europe is not currently in danger of disrupting the supply chain of agricultural products. On the contrary, we have a problem with surpluses. We are currently solving the problem of a significant increase in the import of agricultural products from Ukraine," he said.

The European Commission has never once proposed that the European Union impose sanctions on agricultural products from the Russian Federation because it believes that this would pose a threat to global food security.
