A border between Ukraine and Russia will become fully functional in the Crimea on April 25. The Crimean border service’s acting head Andrii Panov announced this to reporters, the Kommentary publication reports, citing the ITAR TASS news agency.

"The [Crimean] border service performs border controls at 27 border crossings as of today. Additionally, three automobile border crossings and two railway border crossings – Armyansk and Dzhankoy – are open in the northern direction,” Panov said.

"We will start operation with full legality and in full volume by April 25," added Panov.

The representative of the border service emphasized that the situation on the border is calm. "We will not introduce any restrictions, and we are hoping that our counterparts on the Ukrainian side will also implement the appropriate measures," he said.

The acting head of the Federal Migration Service in the Crimea, Piotr Yarosh, also said that the state border would open on April 25. "We will now discuss how to cross the border and issuance of migration cards," he said. According to him, these issues will be discussed at a meeting that will be chaired by the republic’s Deputy Prime Minister Olha Kovitidi.

"The issue of how the Crimean inhabitants that were unable to obtain Russian passports on time but are registered on the territory of the Republic of Crimea will cross the border will also be resolved,” he added.
