Russian seaports handled 811.9 million tons of cargo in the period of January-November 2023, which is 5.7% more than they handled in the same period of 2022.

The Russian Federal Agency for River and Sea Transport (Rosmorrechflot) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

According to the statement, the volume of dry cargo handled by Russian seaports increased by 11.9% to 413 million tons in the period of January-November 2023, compared with the same period of 2022. The volume of liquid bulk cargo handled by them in January-November 2023 remained practically unchanged at 398.9 million tons compared with the same period of 2022 (down 0.1%).

As for the ports in the Sea of Azov-Black Sea basin, they have been improving their performance indicators for several months in a row despite Western sanctions and restrictions.

For example, ports in the Sea of Azov-Black Sea basin handled 267.5 million tons of cargo in the period of January-November this year, which represents a 12.2% increase compared with the same period of last year. The volume of dry cargo handled by them increased by 19.3% to 130.3 million tons and the volume of liquid bulk cargo by 6.2% to 137.2 million tons.

In January-October 2023, Russian ports in the Azov-Black Sea basin increased their cargo handling volume by 17% compared with the same period of 2022.

In November, the volume of cargo handled by Russian ports in the Azov-Black Sea basin decreased. This is most likely because of a storm that raged in the Black Sea for several days.

It should be noted that Ukrainian seaports handled only 46.2 million tons of cargo in the first 10 months of this year.
