The seasonal shallowing of the River Danube and Russian attacks on port infrastructure are currently constraining the operations of the Izmail and Reni ports.
NG Shipping, which is a transport and logistics company that engages in container logistics on the River Danube, stated this in a statement describing the situation, the CFTS portal reports.
According to the company, the Izmail port is in a state in which navigation is difficult because of the river's seasonal shallowing, making it difficult for the port to function fully.
"Regarding the Reni port: even though the port is receiving more and more containers, this may lead to a temporary shutdown of container exports. The situation is complicated because navigation from Reni is currently suspended, and the port essentially functions as a warehouse now, which complicates commercial operations," NG Shipping said.
As reported earlier, freight rates in Ukraine’s Danube ports increased by EUR 5-7 after the Russian attacks on the ports.
Meanwhile, Romania intends to increase the transit of Ukrainian agricultural cargo through its section of the River Danube by hiring additional pilots.
