The number of passengers transported by air between Simferopol and Russian cities has exceeded 2 million since the annexation of the Crimea by Russia. This was announced by Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya), which said that the Simferopol airport is the 13th Russian airport serving more than 2 million passengers per year.

In July, the airport had a daily passenger traffic of between 19,000 and 20,000 thousand and handled between 110 and 120 flights from more than 30 Russian cities. Its passenger traffic peaked in July and August, when it handled 484,500 and 586,000 passengers, respectively.

The maximum number of takeoff and landing operations was recorded on August 31 - 147 flights and 22,300 passengers.

In September, the airport handled 433,000 passengers, of whom 186,000 arrived in Simferopol and 247,000 left the city.

Last year, the Simferopol airport’s passenger traffic was 1.2 million people. The main airport in the Crimea is expected reach the figure of 2.2 million passengers by the end of 2014.
