The Košice - Mukacheve - Košice train service resumed on Sunday, 11 December, as previously announced. Rolling stock belonging to Slovak Railways (Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko or ZSSK) is used on the route.
According to the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia), 30 passengers arrived on the first train from Slovakia, the CFTS portal reports.
As reported earlier, two trains will operate in both directions daily. Train No. 960/961 Košice - Mukacheve will depart from Košice at 08:46 and arrive in Mukacheve at 14:00. In the opposite direction, the train will depart from Mukacheve at 14:48 and arrive in Košice at 18:17.
Train No. 962/963 Kosice - Mukacheve will depart from Košice at 11:46 and arrive in Mukacheve at 16:53. In the opposite direction, the train will depart from Mukacheve at 18:16 and arrive in Košice at 21:33.
"Tickets cost EUR 7.5 at Slovak ticket offices or on-board trains (EUR 6.80 from Chop). For passengers buying tickets in Ukraine, tickets cost UAH 406 at the ticket office in Mukacheve or UAH 373 in Chop (depending on the exchange rate of the Swiss franc, which is the base currency for international railway settlements). Payment onboard a train is possible only in euros," Ukrzaliznytsia said.
The train is designed to carry 78 passengers. It also has three places for bicycles.
The Košice - Mukacheve train began operation in the summer of 2019. It was suspended in March 2020 because of the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
