Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) intends to launch flights to new destinations from the Chernivtsi airport and increase the frequency of its flights on the Kyiv-Chernivtsi-Kyiv route. The Chernivtsi airport’s Director Borys Morskyi announced this to the CFTS portal.
"We have received a request from the UIA to launch an additional flight to Kyiv. In addition, the airline wants to operate flights to Bergamo (Milan) and Istanbul (Turkey). On our part, we are ready. As far as I know, the UIA has received permission to fly to these destinations. We will now discuss the types of aircraft that will be used for the flights," he said.
The date of launch of the flights has not yet been determined.
The Chernivtsi airport is also negotiating with the Yanair airline, which wants to launch Chernivtsi-Tel Aviv flights.
As reported, the Chernivtsi airport began handling regular flights in July 2016. The airport received charter flights operated by Bravo Airways during the New Year holidays.
The Chernivtsi airport has begun reconstructing its runway with the aim of securing the lifting of the restrictions on reception of certain types of aircraft. The reconstruction work will cost UAH 17.7 million.
