The Chernivtsi airport received the first flight from Kyiv operated by Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) in two years on 12 July, the CFTS portal reports.
The Embraer-145 airplane left Kyiv at 21:11 instead of the scheduled time of 20:40. According information on the flightradar24 website, the flight duration was slightly less than one hour. Departure from Chernivtsi was scheduled for 07:00.
According to reports by the ASS news agency, the passengers on the first flight were greeted with music and a buffet.
Ticket prices started from UAH 712 when sale of tickets for the first flight began.
The the UIA’s President Yurii Miroshnikov recently said, "We can only fly there on Embraer 145 airplanes taken on wet lease from the Dniproavia airline. Our Boeing 737 and Embraer 190 cannot fly to the Chernivtsi airport due to the state of the runway and taxiways. Firstly, an Embraer 145 is lighter and, secondly, its engines are located on top, near the fin."
