The State Aviation Service of Ukraine held consultations on further development of air transport with a delegation from Moldova on 28 October. The consultations resulted in a protocol that grants designated airlines from both countries the right to operate regular flights with overnight layovers, starting in the 2016/2017 winter season.
According to the State Aviation Service, the two sides also agreed to prepare and sign a new air transport agreement between the governments of the two countries. The Ukrainian side expressed its readiness to send a draft of the document to Moldova.
In addition, the State Aviation Service signed a memorandum of understanding with the Qatari aviation authorities during a working visit to Qatar on October 27. The memorandum confirms the two parties' intention to operate direct flights between any cities of Ukraine and Qatar, with no restrictions on the frequency of flights.
The two sides agreed to discuss the issue of lifting restrictions on the number of designated carriers during the next round of talks, which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2017.
