Fifty grain cars manufactured by the Kryukov Railcar Building Works began operating between enterprises belonging to the Agroprosperis company in January 2017.
According to the company, each of the grain cars has a load carrying capacity of 70.5 tons and a volume of 116 cubic meters. According to Agroprosperis, they are the best railcars in Ukraine in terms of their characteristics. The company did not disclose the price of the grain cars.
"Seventy tons of all grains and oilseeds, apart from sunflower seed, which is 8% more than the volume that can be loaded into a conventional car, or 50 tons of sunflower seeds, which is 20% more than the volume that can be loaded into a conventional car, can be loaded into one such car," the company said in a statement.
The grain cars will serve Agroprosperis’ grain elevators during the peak season to guarantee transportation of the company’s products. They will also serve third-party elevators in the off-peak season.
The Agroprosperis holding comprises 60 production companies and 12 grain elevators. According to elevatorist.com, the company is controlled by NCH Capital Group (United States), which manages assets worth USD 3.5 billion through various investment funds around the world.
