The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia) will raise the tariffs for use of its freight cars within Ukraine and abroad on May 19.

This was announced in the Uriadovyi Kurier newspaper, the CFTS portal reports.

According to Andrii Riazantsev, the director of economics and finance at Ukrzaliznytsia, the rates were revised to enable the company to upgrade its fixed assets following the increase of the cost of railcar repairs and the rise of the industrial price index.

“Ukrzaliznytsia has not revised its rates in the past six months because the cost of railcars and their repair did not undergo significant changes in the first three months of this period, and the forecast indicator of the industrial producer price index coincided with the actual one for 2018,” Riazantsev said.

Ukrzaliznytsia will begin applying the new tariffs 30 days after their publication, i.e., from May 20, 2019.

As reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia last raised tariffs for use of its railcars in November 2018.
