The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) will work to increase the volume of freight transportation to the EU via Hungary. To this end, Ukrzaliznytsia’s subsidiary UZ Cargo Poland and Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt. have reached a cooperation agreement on increasing the volume of intermodal and conventional rail freight transportation between Ukraine and Hungary.
Ukrzaliznytsia announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
The relevant memorandum was signed during the InnoTrans 2024 international trade fair for transport technology in Berlin.
In the coming years, the volume of rail freight transportation between Ukraine and the EU is predicted to increase significantly, especially the volume of intermodal and conventional freight transportation.
The main goals of the cooperation include the development of transportation between the EU and Ukraine through the Batiovo-Eperjeske and Záhony-Chop railway crossings; the development of cross-border transportation technologies between Ukraine and Hungary; optimization of the use of European- and broad-gauge railcars in international transportation; improvement of the quality of customer service through the development of new transportation methods; joint work on tariffs, transportation costs, organization of freight flows, and provision of a full range of freight forwarding services.
